CDFG accelerates downtown retail expansion with Xiamen duty-free store opening

CDFG’s Xiamen location drives strategic growth, while revitalising Fujian’s retail landscape

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has unveiled its redesigned downtown duty-free location in Xiamen, marking a key move in its domestic expansion strategy.

Located on the first floor of the South Zone of Zhonghua City on Siming South Road, the store is described as the first of its kind in Fujian Province, introducing a transformative retail experience under China’s latest duty-free policies.

The duty-free store brings a new layer to the dynamic mix of retail in this high-traffic tourist and shopping hub

The opening complements existing port-based duty-free offerings, while driving regional growth in the sector.

The Xiamen duty-free outlet brings together an extensive selection of global luxury brands across beauty, fashion and premium spirits.

The store’s shelves are stocked with popular beauty brands that resonate with global shoppers

The beauty and skincare line-up features renowned brands such as Clarins, Decorté, Clinique and Kérastase, while the fashion and accessories range showcases luxury names such as Ray-Ban, Salvatore Ferragamo, Miu Miu and Burberry.

Premium spirits are also well represented, with labels including Johnnie Walker, The Macallan, Hennessy, Martell, Moutai, Shuijingfang and Wuliangye.

To celebrate the Xiamen store debut, CDFG has rolled out an array of VIP rewards and limited-time offers.

CDFG members can enjoy ten-times membership points plus a CNY666 (US$92) welcome gift. The store is also offering exclusive discounts and lucky draw vouchers valued at CNY666 (US$92), along with special CDFG-edition gifts for early shoppers.

The Xiamen downtown duty-free reopening follows China’s latest industry policy changes revealed in August last year, aimed at stimulating domestic spending by expanding downtown duty-free retail.

Following China’s expanded duty-free policies, the Xiamen store caters to both domestic and international travellers with confirmed outbound flights from the city within 60 days.

Shoppers can make tax-free purchases by presenting valid travel documents and flight details, with no spending limits as long as purchases fall within customs’ “reasonable personal use” guidelines.

For added convenience, customers can collect their purchases at designated airport departure zones before boarding. By extending duty-free privileges from airports to downtown hubs, CDFG combines tax-free advantages with easy city access to redefine Xiamen’s retail and tourism sectors.

As a high-potential retail format, downtown duty-free stores are central to CDFG’s growth strategy.

The store is situated in Siming District’s vibrant shopping and tourist area

The Xiamen location, a key tourist hotspot, reinforces CDFG’s integrated ‘port + island + downtown’ duty-free network, enhancing its competitive edge in China’s travel retail market, the retailer noted.

In addition, the opening is part of the company’s continued commitment to strengthening its domestic presence and accelerating consumption recovery.
