China Duty Free Group looks to boost sales with the influx of tourists attending the major sports event

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has kicked off the celebrations for the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities being held in Sanya. The event began on 22 November and runs until the end of the month.

The Games are the largest national sports event held in Hainan since it gained provincial status, highlighting Sanya’s coastal tourism attractions, the progress of its free trade port and the unity of China’s diverse ethnic groups.

As an official senior partner of the Games, the company is actively participating through the cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay.

The travel retailer is offering tailored shopping experiences and exclusive promotions to promote cultural interaction and support the local economy.

cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex is focusing on enhancing the retail experience service environments, visitor services, product displays and event promotion.

The travel retailer has played a key role in fostering a dynamic cultural vibe around the Games by creating dedicated sales areas, increasing discount benefits, distributing shopping vouchers and upgrading premium services.

The key beauty category is pivotal to the week-long campaign

These offers are designed to elevate the travel and shopping experiences for athletes, coaches, referees and tourists from across the country.

Among the exclusive shopping offers are voucher rebates on in-store purchases. Customers who spend CNY1,000 (US$138) on beauty products receive a CNY100 (US$14) voucher, while those spending CNY2,000 (US$276) on fashion items receive a CNY100 (US$14) voucher.

Selected beauty brands are offering a ‘3 items for -25% off’ deal, while Chinese heritage brands present value-packed discount bundles.

Other fashion brands are offering shopping rewards with up to 6,500 bonus points, while watches and jewellery are discounted by up to -40%, and imported wines and spirits are are available for as much as -50% off.

In addition, the shopping emporium has dedicated a special exhibition space for the Games on the third floor (Block A), showcasing beauty sets, apparel,  footwear, accessories, watches and more.

Until 30 November, visitors can scan a QR code at cdf booths in select competition venues and hotels to claim voucher sets worth CNY3,888 (US$537), which can be redeemed at five cdf stores in Hainan.

Furthermore, CNY6 million (US$828,000) in government consumption vouchers will be available for Games participants and spectators.

Games participants and spectators can enjoy exclusive shopping deals, special dining promotions and complimentary access to an Asian haute couture art exhibition until 5 December.

Shoppers can enjoy a range of special discounts and benefits across various apparel brands during the promotional period

Special promotions, including discounts, points rewards and cashback, are available for payments made through credit cards from UnionPay, Bank of Beijing, China Merchants Bank and Bank of Shanghai, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Looking ahead, cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex said it will continue its role as a state-owned enterprise by leveraging large-scale events as opportunities to develop new ways to grow business beyond traditional duty-free sales.
