Luxury house Chanel has unveiled its spring 2024 collection, inspired by the shades of the ocean. It is now available in selected Chanel stores in global travel retail.
The collection was designed by Chanel Creative Partner Valentina Li, one-third of makeup group Comètes Collective along with makeup creatives Ammy Drammeh and Cécile Paravina.
The Chanel spring makeup collection comprises the Lumière de L’Océan highlighter, Les 4 Ombres Rivage and Coral Treasure eyeshadow palettes, Abyssal Blue Waterproof Eyeliner, Lagoon and Sundrop Le Vernis nail polishes, Mermaid Blow Baume Essentiel, Vibrant Coral Blush Duo, two new Rouge Allure Laque and two new Rouge Coco Baume shades.
Li commented: “Water has been my inspiration for years. I remember the first time I saw rain when I was a child. I kept asking questions about the colour of the water: why is the ocean blue and the river green? In doing so, I discovered that water and light are magical makers of colour.
“Water is the source of everything, including us. The appeal of my collection lies in the mystery of the colour blue, its connection to us, and the way it endlessly surprises us. I want everyone to really be able to feel that.”
The Lumière De L’Ocean highlighter features a subtle ocean-blue shade with a subtle pearlescent finish.
The Les 4 Ombres Rivage palette features four coastal shades that represent the meeting of land and sea. These are a satin turquoise, champagne, matte brown and pink shimmer. The palette is embossed with curved ridges that resemble ripples on the water’s surface.
The Les 4 Ombres Coral Treasure offers four coral hues: an apricot orange, luminous fuchsia, lilac pink and semi-matte coral orange; while Baume Essentiel Mermaid Glow is an iridescent gold and pink shimmer that can be used on the eyelids and the inner corners of the eyes.
The Abyssal Blue Waterproof eyeliner is an intense matte electric-blue eyeliner, Lagoon Le Vernis is a glistening metallic-blue nail polish, while Sun Drop is a light coral matte nail polish.
The two Rouge Allure Laque shades are Sea Shell and Sea Star. The former is a rosy beige shimmer, while the latter is brick red. The two new Rouge Coco Baume shades are Anémone and Coralline – Anémore is an orange beige, while Coralline is a brick-red lip balm. ✈
