ChangeGroup captures foreign exchange contract at Gatwick Airport

UK. ChangeGroup has secured a five-year contract as the exclusive operator of currency exchange services at London Gatwick Airport. The deal will see the global provider of foreign currency and financial services invest around £2 million into the airport and create 200 additional jobs.

ChangeGroup will operate 15 currency exchange branches and 70 ATMs in both the North and South terminals at the airport.

ChangeGroup will rebrand each store, adding LED signage in order to improve the look and feel of the units, in a bid to “engage customers and enhance their overall airport experience”.

The range of services includes fast travel cash, international bank transfers, and buyback cover, along with concessionaire banking to support other operators within the airport.

Family-owned ChangeGroup has been supplying foreign currency and financial services since 1992, with Gatwick extending its reach in Europe

Over 50 members of staff have already been welcomed on board to operate the branches, with ChangeGroup hoping to employ a further 150 before the end of the year.

ChangeGroup offers foreign currency exchange in more than 50 currencies, while multi-currency ATMs can dispense up to three major currencies. ChangeGroup served over 4.1 million customers in 2019, with plans in place to return to this level of service in 2022 as the travel and tourism industry continues its recovery.

ChangeGroup International CEO and Co-Founder Sasha Zackariya said: “Becoming the exclusive operator of all currency exchange branches in one of the biggest airports in the UK is certainly something we’re very proud of. Gatwick has a reputation for investing in its airport space, enhancing customer experiences and genuinely caring about its passengers. It is an airport London can truly be proud of and we are excited to be working at this outstanding travel hub.

“ChangeGroup has a proven track record of demonstrating our operational excellence in travel gateways, and we are confident this pattern will continue at Gatwick.”

London Gatwick Airport Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Pollard said: “We are delighted to welcome ChangeGroup as sole operator of all of our currency exchange branches and ATM terminals at the airport. Our passengers will benefit from fresh new currency exchange facilities right across the airport, while the local economy will also receive a boost, with a further 150 employees expected to start work for ChangeGroup in coming months.”
