SINGAPORE. Changi Airport Group is inviting potential partners to bid for what it terms “˜heritage’ retail and dining opportunities at the new Singapore Changi Terminal 4, as it seeks to strengthen the new facility’s Sense of Place.
The Direct Approach exercise, announced this week, concerns a number of units located in a new “˜Heritage-Themed Façade Zone’ in Departure/Transit Lounge North. T4 is scheduled to open in the second half of 2017 and will boost Changi’s capacity to 82 million passengers per year. It will house over 9,000sq m of dining and retail.

The new terminal will feature facades akin to old ‘Peranakan’ shops in the heart of its ‘Heritage’ zone |
CAG said: “Singapore’s national flower is a key source of design inspiration, with orchid petals imbuing a cultural significance in T4’s design. More historical influences are revealed throughout the transit area. In the Heritage-Themed Façade Zone, shopping and dining options are housed within nostalgic heritage façades, each one re-imagined from authentic shop houses nestled around Singapore.
“This iconic zone will re-create a Sense of Place and authenticity. T4 will be “˜Where Heritage Takes Centre Stage’. We aspire to showcase Singapore’s heritage and culinary flavours and dare our operators to dream with us to develop iconic and attractive outlet designs that incorporate heritage elements and artefacts to make this Heritage-Themed Façade Zone a spectacular showpiece for the terminal.”
