SINGAPORE. Changi Airport welcomed over 1,200 participants to its charity walk and Airport Boulevard light-up, officially launching a series of events celebrating Singapore’s 60th anniversary (SG60).
The Charity Walk raised over S$57,000 (US$44,500) in registration fees and public donations, with matching contributions from the Changi Foundation and SG Gives bringing the total to more than S$220,000 (US$171,813).
Proceeds from the initiative will go towards a range of causes, including Community Chest-supported programmes that uplift youth-at-risk and children with special needs.

The event also brought together Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Siow, representatives from the Changi Airport community and members of the public.
Changi Airport Group Executive Vice President of Airport Management Jayson Goh said, “The strong show of support from the public and members of the ONE Changi community in this SG60 Changi Airport Charity Walk has been truly inspiring.
“Their generosity has made a meaningful difference to the causes supported by Community Chest. As Singapore prepares to mark its 60th birthday in just a few weeks, Changi Airport warmly welcomes all visitors to join in the rest of the festivities that we have lined up.”
A radiant tribute to ‘60 Years of Homecoming’

To honour ‘60 Years of Homecoming’, Changi Airport held the SG60 light-up along the Airport Connector, officiated by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow.
The light-up features a series of Singapore-themed installations along Airport Boulevard, culminating in a grand arch illuminated in the red and white of the national flag.
Spanning over 100km of LED lights, the vibrant display recreates some of Singapore’s most popular landmarks, including Gardens by the Bay, the Merlion, the Toa Payoh Dragon Playground and the Changi Control Tower.
The SG60 light-up will remain along Airport Boulevard until the end of the year, offering an added attraction for visitors.
Celebrating connection, culture and community

The Charity Walk evoked a sense of nostalgia among participants as they embarked on a scenic 2km route, starting from the flag-off point at Terminal 2’s Race Village.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the walk included glow sticks, interactive trivia and themed displays featuring familiar local delicacies, including kueh lapis, durians and curry puffs.
Popular snacks such as iced gem biscuits and ice cream sandwiches brought back fond memories along the route. Finishers at Terminal 4 were gifted a commemorative medallion and an SG60 plush keychain of Buddy Bear or Mr Merlion.
To enhance the experience, participants could opt for a longer route to Jurassic Mile, where illuminated dinosaur installations and a hidden checkpoint provided a striking visual finale to the evening.
SG60 celebrations continue at Changi Airport
SG60-themed activities and installations will continue to roll out across Changi Airport and Jewel in the coming weeks.
Highlights include a horticultural showcase in Terminal 3, featuring Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, in a 270sq m floral garden. A towering six-metre Merlion made from 60 plant varieties is also on display beside the Wonderfall.
Adding extra sparkle to the celebrations, Changi Airport will host the SG60 Homecoming Concert on 1 August, featuring musical performances by homegrown stars including Kit Chan and Stefanie Sun.
The National Day sing-along, set beneath Jewel’s popular Forest Valley canopy, is expected to welcome over 1,200 attendees.
Changi Airport brings the national celebration to life with a live broadcast of the National Day Parade at ST3PS, Basement 2 of Terminal 3 on 9 August.
Enhancing the festive spirit are fun trivia games, vibrant performances and a guest appearance by Mr Merlion.
Changi Airport is also giving away exclusive SG60 NDP packs to the first 300 Changi Rewards members, a meaningful souvenir from the National Day celebration. ✈
