Local man Teo Teck Seng is the latest finalist as interest builds in the ‘Be A Changi Millionaire’ promotion |
SINGAPORE. A local Singaporean man is the latest finalist in Changi Airport’s “˜Be A Changi Millionaire’ promotion, which runs until 30 November.
The campaign offers shoppers and diners the chance to enter the millionaire draw if they spend S$60 (S$30 with a Visa card) in a single transaction at the airport.
Teo Teck Seng (39) was chosen as the June monthly winner after purchasing a pair of diamond earrings for his wife at SK Jewellery. He joins an earlier monthly winner plus five others yet to be chosen in the Grand Draw, which takes place in January 2012, for the S$1million top prize.
He also wins S$5,000 in cash and a three day/two night stay in a luxury hotel in Singapore.
Teo said: “I was totally surprised at the chance to be a millionaire and never dreamt that it would be possible. I’m at a loss of words to describe my feelings and joy.”
Teo said he was a frequent visitor to the airport for both shopping and dining with his family. He said he believed that prices were comparable to downtown malls with the added benefit of GST absorption for purchases made at most stores in the public areas. Singaporeans contribute 20% of total concession sales at Changi, the airport company noted.
Besides Teo, five other shoppers, all from Singapore, were also picked as the weekly winners in the promotion. Each of the five wins S$1,000.
In another new initiative, Changi Airport Group has launched its “˜Fabulous Fridays’ promotion for August.
For S$3, visitors and passengers can get Bengawan Solo’s pineapple tarts or mooncakes, Bee Cheng Hiang’s signature barbequed meat or Eu Yan Sang’s best-selling bottled Bird’s Nest with Rock Sugar. The items are usually priced at more than S$30.
To avail of the deals, shoppers need to make minimum purchase of S$30 using Visa or S$60 by other means at any retail or F&B outlets at Changi Airport.
Travellers who wish to purchase the “˜Fabulous Fridays’ deal of the week from the Departure Transit Lounge can visit the respective retail store carrying the item, or the “˜Fabulous Fridays’ event booth (should there not be the particular store at the terminal).
