Chicago O’Hare T5 re-issues tender for duty free, speciality retail, news & gifts and food & beverage concessions – 20/07/07

US. The City of Chicago Department of Aviation has reissued an RFP (Request for Proposals) for duty free, speciality retail, news & gift and food & beverage concessions at Chicago O’Hare International Airport Terminal Five, the “International Terminal”.

In December last year the City issued a tender for many of the same spaces, including two Duty Free Americas-operated duty free stores, but has now repackaged the RFP. It consists of ten packages and 15 concessions covering 15,183sq ft. Proposals must be submitted by 4 October with seven-year contracts expected to begin in summer 2008.

Package 1 is for a branded hamburger bar in 768sq ft of space; Package 2 covers two bistro/café bars in 2,240sq ft; Packages 3 to 7 are snack bars and fast food stations covering 300-900sq ft; Package 8 is a speciality retail store in 879sq ft; Package 9 is four news & gift outlets totalling 2,114sq ft; Package 10 covers 5,875sq ft of duty free space.

T5 handled 2 million international departing passengers in 2006. The two duty free concessions had US$18.7 million in total sales last year. Food & beverage sales were US$8.7 million from 6,315sq ft; news & gift sales were US$6.1 million from 2,114sq ft and speciality retail sales were US$0.5 million from 879sq ft.
