Chopard presents Palme d’Or luxury flash drive to VIP guests

Swiss luxury watch and jewellery house Chopard, an Official Partner of the Festival de Cannes, has presented VIP guests to this year’s event with a specially created exclusive flash drive.

Chopard commissioned LUXURYUSB.CH to create the gift, which was designed by Pascal Grenacher and fully manufactured in Switzerland. It was presented to guests complete with images of the luxury company’s 2012 Red Carpet jewellery collection.

The drive is adorned on one side by the iconic Palme d’Or – the symbol of the festival that was redesigned in 1997 by Chopard Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele.

The Chopard flash drive is adorned on one side by the iconic Palme d’Or symbol, which is covered by a layer of red Chinese lacquer revealing the branch’s golden foliage

Described as “a real challenge in terms of manufacturing and machining”, the flash drive has a gold-plated rectangular body, buffed on both surfaces, with polished rims.

A layer of red Chinese lacquer covers the upper part, revealing the Cannes branch with its golden foliage, while the back of the piece is engraved with the Chopard name.

Chopard was named the Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival for the fifteenth consecutive year in 2012. Each year since 2007, Scheufele has created a new haute joaillerie collection for the event.

The sixty-fifth edition of the Festival saw Scheufele creating 65 pieces for the Red Carpet Collection, inspired by the actresses who partake in the customary “˜Montée des Marches’ in Cannes – most famously, Marilyn Monroe.

In tribute to the iconic actress, Scheufele has created a necklace with an openwork design, featuring 22 heart-shaped diamonds on a lace of diamond beads.

As well as diamonds the collection features a variety of coloured precious stones including tourmalines, rubies, padparadscha sapphires, amethysts, and emeralds.
