Christchurch International Airport Limited said: “It is an exciting time to join Christchurch Airport, with record year-on-year growth and our strong focus on enhancing customer journeys through our Park to Plane strategy.

Beautiful South: Christchurch International Airport is the major gateway to New Zealand’s South Island

“We are focussed on building on Christchurch Airport’s strong service focus and enhancing the experience on offer, building a stronger business through the commercialisation of these journeys in partnership with our stakeholders.

“The airport is a 24-hour operation and New Zealand’s second-largest airport.  Christchurch Airport, as the South Island’s premier gateway, provides a unique opportunity for seasoned and innovative operators to gain maximum brand exposure and showcase a premium offering to a local, domestic and international market.

“The airport’s passenger numbers continue to grow year-on-year, with record numbers of visitors. This rapid growth in demand can be attributed to many factors, including the growing profile of New Zealand, and the South Island as an international holiday destination of choice.

  • A record 6.31 million passengers travelled in and out of Christchurch Airport in the 2016 financial year
  • Airline seat availability grew +7% during the year to 7.9 million, with several new services starting midway through the year
  • International passengers using the trans-Tasman network grew +7% and long-haul grew 18%
