CHINA. Alibaba Dufry and GDF Plaza have clarified a report filed by The Moodie Davitt Report’s China correspondent earlier this week.
GDF Plaza has not launched a store on Tmall as indicated but has created an icon on the Tmall application (not the main Taobao application).
Users clicking on the icon enter a traffic direction page. Then when they click the corresponding zone, it directs the user to GDF’s offshore duty free mini-app and GDF’s after-travel VIP membership mini-app.
In short, the travel retailer has created a page to direct traffic to GDF’s duty free mini-app. GDF has not launched a Tmall store and cannot access any marketing product in Tmall and Taobao.
