FRANCE. Clarins Group has restructured into two key divisions, and four geographical areas, in response to both “market issues and the demands of [its] development”.
The announcement, effective immediately, comes less than four months after ex-Lauder executive Philip Shearer, now President of the Executive Board, joined the company.
The two divisions comprise the Clarins Brand, and the Clarins Fragrances Group.
Isabelle Herbreteau, a former Vice President International and Travel Retail, becomes President of the Clarins Brand. “Her excellent knowledge of the world we operate in and her international experience will be invaluable assets in running our project of becoming the world leader in skin care,” noted Shearer.
Joël Palix has been named President of the Clarins Fragrances Group, which incorporates the Thierry Mugler, Mode et Patrimoine, Azzaro, Porsche Design and Swarovski brands.
“We are convinced that [Palix’s] expertise will enable him to consolidate our position within the fragrance market,” commented Shearer. “The synergy between the Perfumes teams will create the platform for innovation required to compete effectively in this challenging environment.”
In their capacity as Presidents, both Herbreteau and Palix will be responsible for defining and running the global marketing strategy of the brands, and in particular the management of innovation. For each of them the French market remains their responsibility.
Regarding other regions, Frédéric Geraud becomes President of the European Area, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Switzerland and Eastern European Countries.
“Frédéric has achieved a great deal for us in his work on commercial terms for the European Key Accounts, so it is entirely natural for us to ask him to devote his skills to these markets,” Shearer said.
Gérard Delcour becomes President of the new structure in charge of the Latin American Area, Canada, Travel Retail, Agents and the Regional Offices of Miami and Dubai.
“This new area, which is very important for the Group and constitutes a reservoir of growth and profitability, will benefit from [Delcour’s] in-depth knowledge of the markets and of perfumery,” commented Shearer.
Delcour will also retain his positions as President of the Board of Directors of the Fédération des Entreprises de la Beauté (FEBEA) and the Syndicat Français de la Parfumerie.
Laurent Lautier takes over as President of the Asian Area, from September. This territory includes Singapore, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan.
“[Lautier’s] perfect knowledge of cosmetics, the Asiatic market and its culture will enable him to respond to the issues of this area which is of strategic importance for the Group,” noted Shearer.
The English-speaking markets (US/UK) are to be placed under Shearer’s responsibility, with Jonathan Zrihen and Robin Vincent reporting to him.
The presidents of the subsidiaries and agents will report directly to the geographical areas as previously defined.
Finally, Operations Management has been entrusted to Pascal Pollet, who takes charge of the Purchasing, Supply Chain, Information Systems and Sustainable Development functions in his capacity as Vice President.
“Pascal’s experience both in France and internationally will enable him to put in place a structure which will be appropriate for co-ordinating all these actions optimising our internal allocation of resources,” concluded Shearer.
