Jazzy Colours: The 2008 Clarins Look

FRANCE. French beauty house Clarins has unveiled its Jazzy Colours make-up collection for 2008, comprising products for the face, eyes, nails and lips.

This year’s Clarins Look features Joli Rouge, a long-lasting lipstick available in ten new shades offering a comfortable texture that is designed to leave lips fuller, softer and smoother.

Joli Rouge, developed by Clarins Laboratories Scientific Director of Research and Development Lionel de Benetti and Clarins Make-Up Artistic Director Thibault Vabre, is said to have lip care benefits that make it different from other lipsticks because it combines five active ingredients.

Mango butter is said to instantly cover lips with a lightweight film rich in protective fatty acids. The Maxi-Lip Complex combines natural peptides with Palmitic acid, which offers renewal action. By encouraging collagen and hyalauric acid synthesis, it reduces lines on the lips, highlights their natural fullness and defines the lip contours. Other ingredients include ceramides, Vitamin E and liquorice extract, which are said to make Joli Rouge effective as a lip balm in terms of comfort and protection.

For the complexion, Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch is said to smooth away wrinkles, fine lines and enlarged pores.

Five active ingredients: Joli Rouge lipstick has ten new shades

New to the make-up range is Loose Powder, presented in a crystal jar with a silver lid. It is described as an ultra-fine powder with a silky texture and is available in a Translucent shade.

For the eyes, two new Colour Quartet make-up palettes are introduced: So Chic and So Sublime. The soft, smoothing texture is said to be long-wearing for high-impact make-up results.

The new Kohl Eye Pencil is applied inside the eye or to the eyelash base, with a precise, highly-defined line that illuminates eyes with intense colour, according to Clarins. It comes in a limited-edition shade of Extreme Black.

The Eyeliner brush is offered in a limited-edition shade of Blue Shimmer, while the long-wearing Wonder Length Mascara is said to give long and shiny lashes that look real. Wonder Plum is the limited-edition shade.

Nail products include a new Glossy Nail Colour in five permanent colours, as well as a new limited-edition shade of Deep Plum. Other items in the range include Glossy Top Coat, Smoothing Base and French White.

Instant Smooth Foundation

Clarins has also introduced an Instant Smooth Foundation, inspired by the technology behind the brand’s best-selling Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. The new product is designed to smooth, even and conceal. Designed by Thibault Vabre, it comes in a range of eight shades to suit every skin tone and is said to ensure a natural radiant glow.

The featherlight mousse texture is described as quick and easy to apply and melts onto the skin for a flawless finish. The smoothing and plumping action is said to be thanks to the dual-effect Soft Focus pigments and line-filling Acacia Micro-Pearls. The matte finish product offers medium coverage.

Satin-Smooth Body Lotion is said to be smoother and silkier, thanks to Clarins’ advanced technology

Satin-Smooth Body Lotion

In other news, Clarins has renamed its top-selling Silky-Smooth Body Lotion, originally launched in 1970, as Satin-Smooth Body Lotion. The texture is said to be smoother and silkier, thanks to advanced technology by Clarins Research in innovative plant extracts.

The fluid, lightweight cream is designed to ensure reinforced hydration at all four levels of the skin. A research study carried out with a French engineering school showed that Satin-Smooth Body Lotion had the same feeling as satin on the skin.

Ingredients include Sorbier bud for skin hydration, peach tree milk, Katafray extract and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for optimal epidermal hydration, and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for restoring dermal moisture reserves, helping to restore the skin’s youthful, elastic qualities.

To emphasise the satin theme, Clarins has designed a 200ml bottle with a satin-soft feel and subtle pink colour, while the fragrance combines cotton flower, mallow and white iris.
