An “oasis of calm”: the new Clarins Travel Retail Boutique at London Gatwick South Terminal |
It is an “oasis of calm” where men and women can be pampered, and find the most suitable skin care solutions for their beauty requirements, and create a personalised beauty programme, according to the brand.
A major UK airport, Gatwick is a hub for more than eighty airlines travelling to over two hundred destinations worldwide. Thirty-four million passengers travel through the airport every year, and this figure is forecast to reach forty million in the future.
The Clarins Boutique design team focused on creating a welcoming and accessible space where passengers could forget the rush and noise of the airport around them.

Themed areas help travellers navigate the brand easily and quickly: wall space displays product clearly and logically |
The brand’s signature white and red livery, updated with a touch of Champagne for contemporary chic, identifies the area, while a red line “discovery path” on the ceiling guides customers to the heart of the Boutique.
Wall space to the right displays products clearly and logically, while on the left, wall space is dedicated to highlighting new product launches.
The aim is to help travellers discover the world of Clarins as soon as they arrive. As they walk through the Boutique, customers encounter special themed areas: the make-up studio where they can polish their application techniques, the promotional area dedicated to special offers, the ClarinsMen wall; and the tester bar where clients can try products for themselves. Exclusive travel offers are also on display.

The “contemporary and attractive” design is proving a draw for male as well as female consumers, according to WDF |
In addition there are three advice areas that have been specifically set aside to provide customers with the opportunity to talk, try and enjoy textures in the company of their own Beauty Advisor.
Set aside from the public area is the “Clarinstime” treatment room, where customers can enjoy beauty advice and a selection of treatments.
WDF Head of Category for Beauty Debbie Ansell commented: “We are delighted with the new Clarins Beauty Studio in Gatwick South. We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Clarins in Gatwick and this new store is the latest example of our strong partnership.
“Already the Clarins customer is showing her appreciation of the new store, enjoying the opportunity to sample the extensive product range and chat to the knowledgeable staff about the latest additions and new season’s make-up colours.”
She added: “The contemporary and minimalist design is proving attractive to male customers as well and the men’s skincare range has strengthened its performance since the opening. The positioning of the cosmetics range at the front of the store is driving incremental business as the loyal skincare customer is able to discover and experience the quality of Clarins’ make-up ranges.”
The Clarins Boutique team, run by Alison Campbell, features seven Beauty Advisors, all of whom are regularly trained on how to welcome, guide and advise customers, according to the brand.
“The very first results are excellent: customers are happy and sales are [up] double digit versus the same period last year,” noted Clarins in a statement.
The new Clarins Boutique is open every day from 5am to 8pm from November to April, and from 5am to 10pm from May to October.
