CNSC celebrates inauguration of new-look post-arrivals Chongqing duty free store : Moodie Davitt Report

**The Chongqing store is inaugurated in time-honoured style by company officials and local dignitaries**

CHINA. CNSC yesterday held a special ceremony to mark the official inauguration of its new-look, 1,400sq m post-arrivals duty free store in Chongqing, following an earlier soft opening.

Guests at the inauguration included city and regional officials, and senior management from CNSC and the travel retailer’s parent company Sinopharm.

Local dignitaries included leaders from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Chongqing District Government Chongqing Customs and Chongqing Airport Group.

Almost 160 brands are offered across a wide array of categories, including cosmetics, fragrances, fashion & accessories, handbags, leathergoods, food and confectionery, and other items.

The store enjoys a prime central business district location in Changjiahui Landmark Riverside Park, Chongqing’s first cultural tourism complex, which was opened in 2016. The lifestyle centre, sited between the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, serves as an integrated destination for leisure, entertainment, travel, and shopping.

The so-called ‘Chongqing Bund’ faces the magnificent Chongqing Grand Theater and overlooks Chaotianmen Square at the confluence of the two rivers.

The store’s design concept is derived from the Chongqing landscape and incorporates elements of Chinese ink painting. “Combined with modern decoration, the collision between modernity and tradition presents a fantastic visual experience,” CNSC said.

“The opening of the store effectively compensated for the impact of the pandemic on overseas consumption,” CNSC told The Moodie Davitt Report. “It has played an important role in actively promoting the release of Chongqing’s consumption potential, upgrading the quality of the regional consumer market, guiding the return of overseas consumption, and boosting the economic development of Chongqing.”
