CHINA. Sinopharm Group’s travel retail arm China National Service Corporation (CNSC) yesterday (20 March) unveiled a departures duty-free store at Fuzhou Changle International Airport in Fujian Province, in partnership with Xiamen Iport Group.
Located in the international departure zone, the 476.1sq m space showcases a wide selection of products across various categories including beauty, fragrances, wine & spirits, health & wellness, and other items from nearly 100 international brands.
The opening represents a key step in the retailer’s strategic expansion along the Belt and Road and in South China’s duty-free market, building on the opening of the departures duty-free shop at Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport.

CNSC noted its plans to explore cross-regional and cross-channel linkages between the duty-free shops at Quanzhou Airport and other key airports in the region. According to the retailer, the regional synergy is aimed at continually enhancing the shopping experience in the channel.
The company also emphasised its focus on introducing more health-related products and services, advancing its ‘duty-free + health’ differentiation strategy.
The new store will help elevate Fuzhou Airport’s status as a shopping destination in the region, reinforcing the city’s emergence as a modern international hub, as well as a key gateway in the Maritime Silk Road strategy.
In addition, CNSC aims to leverage this platform to promote Fujian’s local products and culture to a wider audience, supporting Fuzhou’s ambition to become an international consumption hub and driving growth in the duty-free market along the Belt and Road.
Moving forward, CNSC said it will use its duty-free operations to stimulate domestic consumption, attract overseas spending and promote the global reach of domestic products.
Innovation will be key to stimulating duty-free consumption, thus injecting new vitality into China’s duty-free industry, CNSC concluded. ✈
