CHINA. CNSC has been awarded another departures duty free contract – its eighth in recent months – at Suifenhe Road Port.
CNSC will operate a 517sq m duty free store on an eight-year contract.
Suifenhe City is part of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. It is located in the center of the Northeast Asian economic circle and is the only land trade port from China to the Sea of Japan.
Suifenhe holds a pivotal position in implementing China’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ strategic plan, and is often dubbed the ‘golden channel’ in the way it connects Northeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region.
The Suifenhe Road Port is a fulcrum of Suifenhe’s economic development. It is located in the east of Suifenhe City, adjacent to Russia, and 16 kilometres away from the Pogranic Inner District of the Russian counterpart city.
As the largest road port on the Sino-Russian border, it handles the transfer and distribution of Sino-Russian trade import and export and passenger transportation. The Suifenhe Road Port has undergone a comprehensive renovation since 2012, including anew, high-quality passenger transport joint inspection building. The upgraded Suifenhe Highway Port has an annual capacity of 5.5 million tonnes of cargo and 6 million passengers.
CNSC said that its winning bid complements and helps underpin the company’s rapid and ambitious overall development. The Suifenhe Port project will form part of an overall regional synergy with other CNSC duty free shops such as the Harbin downtown store and Heihe land port store, the company noted. Through such multi-channel links and synergies, CNSC said it will be able to continuously improve the duty free shopping experience of consumers.
