CHINA. China National Service Corporation (CNSC) has announced plans for a major marketing promotion in June, as duty free shopping in China continues to rebound from COVID-19.
Several of CNSC’s downtown duty free stores will this month take part in the Mid-Year Duty Free Carnival.
CNSC said its presence in major shopping complexes gives the retailer both strong footfall and the chance to collaborate with the shopping centre landlords on the Carnival. For example, CNSC will work with Greenland, Hang Lung and Wanda to promote the event in Zhengzhou, Dalian and Harbin respectively.
CNSC has seen a sustained recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. The company said May was its strongest month since the pandemic, with large numbers shopping on the Labour Day weekend.
As reported, CNSC will in the second half of this year open a near 1,800sq m post-arrivals duty free store in Beijing FUN (北京坊), a commercial and cultural development adjacent to the National Palace Museum, National Grand Theatre, National Museum and other renowned cultural institutions.
CNSC is also pressing ahead with projects in Qingdao, Chongqing and Hefei. In the coastal city of Qingdao, the retailer is looking to open a store on the first floor of the HNA Center in the city’s core commercial circle.
