La Maison Cointreau is set to unveil its new Cointreau Blood Orange during the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in Orlando next month (stand number:113).
Described as a new twist on the classic Cointreau signature, Cointreau Blood Orange (70cl 40% ABV) premieres exclusively in travel retail and will appear on shelves at selected travel retail outlets from May 2015. Its suggested retail price is in line with Cointreau one-litre.

Described as a new twist on the classic Cointreau signature, Cointreau Blood Orange complements Cointreau and Cointreau Noir which hold a leading position in global travel retail |
La Maison Cointreau says the new expression complements the Cointreau range of Cointreau and Cointreau Noir, which hold a leading position in global travel retail.
“Cointreau is known the world over for its authentic, elegant and avant-garde personality and Cointreau Blood Orange draws inspiration from these values and brings to them a new twist,” the spirits company stated.
The new expression was created by La Maison Cointreau Master Distiller Bernadette Langlais who used blood oranges from the Mediterranean island of Corsic to perfect the spirit’s aromatic profile.
“The unique combination of the Mediterranean climate and the rugged Corsican soil gives the blood orange its vitality, blood-red colour, intense aromas and exquisite taste. In every step of her creation Bernadette Langlais remained true to the Cointreau craftsmanship handed down from one generation to the next. She continued the Cointreau quest for harmony in expressing artfully the notes of the fruit and brought a whole new dimension to them,” the company stated.
Cointreau Blood Orange is a new expression, not a flavour-extension of Cointreau.
Langlais said: “I have put all my passion and dedication into creating the Blood Orange expression of Cointreau.” On the nose, Cointreau Blood Orange offers zesty citrus notes; the interplay of three orange varieties creates a complexity of taste to offer a “vibrant new twist on the classic, inimitable Cointreau signature,” she added.
Cointreau Blood Orange is presented in the iconic square bottle of Cointreau which bears the seal “˜1849′, the year the House was established. The bottle is orange-red colour with a rose gold finish, a “˜nod’ to the copper stills at the Cointreau distillery in Angers.
La Maison Cointreau CEO Panos Sarantopoulos commented: “Cointreau Blood Orange is an avant-garde expression of the art of our House and a tribute to our Master Distiller’s talent. We have reserved its world premiere for travel retail, so that the millions of Cointreau lovers around the world will first discover it as a treat during their travels this year. Cointreau Blood Orange stands beautifully alongside Cointreau and Cointreau Noir. Together they give every reason to put Cointreau centre-stage in all those travel retail outlets that make a point of being ahead of the game.”
La Maison Cointreau says Cointreau Blood Orange has the cocktail versatility of Cointreau and recommends a “˜Cointreau Bold Fizz’: 50ml of Cointreau Blood Orange, 20ml of fresh lime juice and 100ml of sparkling water. It can also be served neat on ice.
Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail Marketing Director Matthew Hodges added: “A travel retail exclusive, Cointreau Blood Orange will bring new energy to the spirits category in duty free throughout 2015 and beyond. Cointreau Blood Orange encapsulates the free-spirit of “˜la Parisienne’, part of the DNA of la Maison Cointreau, and it is guaranteed to seduce independent women travellers all over the world.”
