Men’s accessories brand Colibri, which patented the world’s first non-battery, non-flint ignition lighter 50 years ago, has relaunched the lighter under a fresh name and with stylish new casing.
The Eclipse comes in a range of finishes, which will be regularly updated with new colours and designs, providing an individual touch to the brand’s signature lighter.
Its bright and simple design makes it a fun accessory that is expected to quickly become a collectable item, the company said.
Prices start at €49.
The original lighter, developed in 1962, freed smokers from the waste and inconvenience of disposable parts and created an elegant, environmentally friendly alternative.
The breakthrough came after years of research by Colibri and Bluebird land speed engineer Martin Paul Levy, and quickly became a global technology standard, turning the brand into a household name.
