CHINA. Valentino Beauty made its Hainan debut in style earlier this month in collaboration with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay. The inauguration of a 30sq m second-floor boutique kicked off a month-long activation and promotional campaign.
The Valentino Beauty brand presence is enhanced by two pop-up spaces, one inside the CDF Mall that anchors the vast Sanya complex and another outside. Shoppers are invited to discover a whole new beauty world based on Valentino Beauty’s strong and simple motto – Color Cool Couture.
A star-studded launch event on 2 November was graced by top celebrities Gu Linazha, Guang Xiao Tong and Gao Qingchen, plus 14 beauty influencers.
In an evocative celebration of Valentino Beauty’s debut in Hainan, the opening ceremony featured an extraordinary ballet performance infused with street dance elements.
Together with L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific and CDFG management, the three Chinese celebrities joined a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of the first Valentino Beauty store in Hainan and unveiled the myriad of activations.
The 30sq m Valentino Beauty store, located on the shopping mall’s second floor, features neon lights, a pink terrazzo surface and industrial-styled furniture. The boutique represents a merging of heritage and quality of couture with the new contemporary and colourful cool spirit of the brand.
Sustainability is integral to the concept. All displays comprise recycled and recyclable material, predominantly based on three types of materials designed to be easily separable for circular end-of-life recycling.
Two pop-up spaces have been transformed into an engaging experience that allows visitors to fully explore every facet of the brand. The indoor pop-up in vibrant shades of red offers an exclusive customer experience featuring immersive rooms decorated with life-size replicas of Valentino Beauty’s star products, Go-clutch 2-in-1, Rosso Valentino lipstick and Go-cushion.
The Valentino Beauty experience extends to the outdoor pop-up, starting the journey with an introduction of the couture beauty brand’s history. Other standouts are a makeup room with close to 50 lipstick shades and a studded fragrance room featuring the smell of Born in Roma and Voce Viva, where travellers are invited to take photos and share the experience online.
Visitors can also experience the art of gifting with a premium and eco-friendly wrapping tote bag, and enjoy an exclusive VIP makeup consultation session.
“Together with CDFG, we are delighted to invite Hainan travellers to celebrate the opening of the first-ever Valentino Beauty store in Hainan,” said L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director Tao Zhang.
“Valentino Beauty offers new emotions and dreams for individuals to celebrate their self-expression every day. The launch of such an inclusive couture beauty brand further elevates our powerful brand portfolio and drives towards our ambition in offering beauty for all travellers.”
“The grand celebration event for the launch of Valentino Beauty in Haitang Bay with the presence of top celebrities is a memorable and important milestone for our brand in travel retail China,” added Valentino Beauty Travel Retail Asia Pacific General Manager Youssef Benkirane.
“Beyond the finest products and great retail experiences, the celebration is an invitation to all beauty addicts to discover Valentino Beauty’s portfolio, including our 2-1-star product the Go-clutch and iconic go-cushion. Such success cannot be achieved without our strategic collaboration with CDFG.”
China Duty Free Group Deputy General Manager Xujiang Gao said: “On behalf of CDFG, we welcome Valentino Beauty to Sanya International Duty Free City. The grand opening of Valentino Beauty today is not only another breakthrough in the cooperation between CDFG and L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific, but also the result of the mutual trust between both parties. We wish Valentino Beauty a successful event and look forward to having more collaboration in the future.”
