US. ALFA Brands has been appointed the exclusive travel retail agent in Canada for the original inventor of chocolate covered Macadamia nuts – Hawaiian Host Chocolates.
Hawaiian Host Chocolates makes the MacNut Crunch, Maui Caramacs and Toffee MacNut Crunch brands.
“We are excited about the latest Canada addition to its Vacation Chocolates series of destination confectionery,” said ALFA Brands operations manager Amy Hildreth. “The series makes a great gift and souvenir for the traveller.”
Recently launched at this year’s Duty Free Show of the Americas, The Vacation Chocolates Canada series retails around US$8. It contains 7oz (198g) and 14 pieces of chocolate covered macadamia nuts.
Hawaiian Host Chocolates will be warehoused at DFX Distribution in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and will be available for shipping at the end of this month.
ALFA Brands is also the North American agent for other food and wine brands such as Amore Italian wine, Chevalier Belgian chocolates, Pillitteri Estates Canadian icewine and Jelly Belly, makers of gourmet jelly beans. Jelly Belly is in the process of developing a line exclusive to travel retail. “We are hoping to introduce the line at the upcoming Frontier Duty Free Association Convention being held this November in Toronto,” said Hildreth.
All the Goelitz Confections brand candies Jelly Belly makes will now carry a new logo and name: Confections by Jelly Belly.
“The name change is an extension of the company’s long-range goal to leverage the high awareness of the Jelly Belly name,” said Jelly Belly vice-president of marketing Pete Healy. “It began two years ago when our company changed corporate identity to Jelly Belly Candy Company. Now, with the new look for Confections by Jelly Belly, we hope to introduce more consumers to our heritage of premium-quality candy-making.
“Confections by Jelly Belly includes our full line of seasonal and year-round gourmet candies. You can expect to see the first of our packaged line of Confections by Jelly Belly candies to debut in the autumn line. In addition, updated gold-striped packages of Jelly Belly beans complement the new Confections packages,” he said.
