Coty has launched the latest extension of Davidoff’s Cool Water range, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
The limited edition edts, for both men and women, are available now in travel retail in Europe and Asia Pacific. The two formats – 125ml (for men) and 100ml (for women) – have a recommended retail price of US$54.
The fragrances – designed by Takasago Perfumer Jérôme di Marino – are the result of Davidoff’s collaboration with Capcom, a leading video games developer. Capcom’s popular Street Fighter was introduced in 1987, quickly developing into a pop culture icon, with sales exceeding 45 million.
Two Street Fighter heroes, Ryu and Chun-Li, are this year’s Cool Water faces.
The citrus-woody edt for men opens with green mandarin, fused with black pepper and guaiac wood. The Champion Edition bottle follows the original Cool Water design and colour and echoes Ryu’s ‘hadoken’ blue wave of energy.
The citrus/floral fragrance for women offers notes of mandarin and pear, with tuberose. The edt is presented in a water-drop shaped bottle.
Both bottles feature the Davidoff Cool Water logo and the street-art-inspired V Street Fighter emblem.
The launch is backed by a visual campaign by art designer and digital illustrator, Clarence Lansang, who has worked on the Street Fighter series.
Davidoff Cool Water’s release in 1988 is, according to Coty, regarded as a landmark in the world of perfumery. Its blue bottle “pioneered a new freshness” to epitomise a lifestyle which combines intense physicality and “irresistible coolness”. Coty noted that one bottle of Cool Water is sold every two seconds worldwide. |
