Copenhagen Airport builds F&B portfolio with three new outlets

Copenhagen Airport is one of Europe’s most progressive in F&B terms

DENMARK. Copenhagen Airport will build on its strong food & beverage offer by opening three new brands in early 2015: Aamanns, Gorm’s and YO! Sushi.

As reported, Copenhagen Airport won Airport F&B Offer of the Year at The Moodie Report-organised FAB Awards in June.

Director, Airport Sales Lise Ryevad said: “We deliberately endeavour to offer our travellers as many attractive food options as possible. Taste is extremely personal, and most people have a clear idea of what they would like to eat. That makes it important to cater to any taste and budget and to ensure that we offer value for money.

“It is very important to us that the quality of the raw materials is high, and that our restaurants pay extra attention to presenting the best products to our travellers. This is strongly reflected by the three new entities – which will soon offer traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches, southern European cuisine and Japanese food art at Copenhagen Airport.”

The new openings in early 2015 range from Danish to Asian cuisine. Aamanns is known for its Danish open-faced sandwiches, Gorm’s for its Italian food and YO! Sushi for its Asian flavours.

Danish chefs Gorm Wisweh and Adam Aamann lead the Gorm’s and Aamanns brands respectively.

“The [open-faced] sandwiches are loved and known by many people, Danes as well as tourists. The Danish word for the sandwiches, ‘smorrebrod’, is a real tongue twister that will no doubt be pronounced in many different ways by guests at Aamanns at Copenhagen Airport. This will hopefully contribute to the good atmosphere and experience passengers will have before taking off from Copenhagen,” said Ryevad.

YO! Sushi is the first restaurant to be opened by the chain in Denmark. It was first introduced in the UK, but has since opened around the world.

All three restaurants also offer their food ‘to-go’ for travellers.

The openings will build on other fresh initiatives at the airport in recent months. These include the opening of pop-up unit Hallo Hello, designed so that guests share tables with strangers.
