DENMARK. Copenhagen Airport has revealed plans for a series of enhancements to its airside retail offer in 2014, as its luxury drive gathers pace.
The airport will add outlets from high-end audio specialist Bang & Olufsen – its first ever airport store – and fashion house Max Mara later this year. Hugo Boss and Hermès shops will be expanded, with the Hermès outlet doubling in space.
In November last year the airport opened a Bottega Veneta store, joining a very limited line-up of European airports offering the luxury fashion brand.
All the new stores will be located in the airport’s main airside luxury area, Nytorv, between terminals 2 and 3.

In a video interview to be featured in The Moodie Report e-Zine this week, Copenhagen Airports Vice President Sales and Marketing Carsten Nørland said: “Our strategy is to make sure we are delivering these extraordinary shopping experiences to our passengers – so new shops and new brands need to be at Copenhagen Airport first before they go anywhere else in Scandinavia.
“We expect that these new stores will give us even better passenger ratings.”
As reported in The Moodie Report Print Edition for July 2013 (page 84), Copenhagen Airport is in the process of implementing a new, luxury-led retail strategy.
Nytorv was originally opened in May 2008 as a luxury zone, but the airport adapted its plans in the wake of the global financial crisis. The airport is now renewing its focus on high-end brands.
Copenhagen Airport will host this year’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference and Awards, organised by The Moodie Report and The Foodie Report and to be held in Copenhagen on 9-11 June.
