DENMARK. Copenhagen Airport is speeding up its redevelopment of Terminal 2 to ensure it is ready for the 6.6 million passengers expected during June, July and August.
The airport’s DKK540 million (US$92.7 million) construction project is designed to provide better service, more space and extra check-in desks for passengers.
The redevelopment work in Terminal 2 includes the installation of a new stairway/escalator to the security screening area on the first floor, new areas with check-in kiosks and a new glazed area, an entry area and raised ceilings in the arcade between the terminals. There will also be a major upgrade to the baggage handling facilities.
The work meant thousands of travellers over the Easter period were exposed to construction walls, open ceilings and dust in Terminal 2 and the arcade between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Copenhagen Airport is expecting 6.6 million passengers over the summer months |
“The open ceilings in the arcade and the many construction walls make it very apparent to passengers that we are speeding up our construction project, which includes expansion of the arcade and integration into Terminal 2,” said Copenhagen Airport Chief Technology Officer Christian Poulsen.
“We must have the 1,400 additional square metres of space and the 12 new check-in desks ready before the summer holidays, so we are busy, but we’ll make it.”
