Cosmoprof Asia puts packaging in the spotlight – 10/11/05

HONG KONG. Cosmoprof Asia, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 9 to 11 November, is previewing new data about trends in perfumery and cosmetic packaging.

The Cosmoprof Asia Worldwide Beauty Observatory is a survey institute that monitors beauty industry trends and provides educational research. This year it has focused on the packaging sector, a key driver in the Asian beauty market.

The research, called “Perfumery/Cosmetics Packaging Market: Position & Trends Over 5 Years” draws a detailed picture of the potential for packaging in the years to 2010, identifying the views of all the players in the luxury goods market.

The study has been coordinated by Jean-Yves Bourgeois, an economics journalist with 30 years’ experience in international packaging.

Bourgeois himself will present a preview of the results at Cosmoprof Asia 2005, within a seminar called “Cosmetics Packaging Market: Position and Trends in the coming years” and will discuss:

– How packaging manufacturers can adapt to new competitive environments
– The impact this competition will have on the design, production and distribution of packaging for luxury products
– Whether the industry is moving towards more personalised or more standardised types of packaging

These crucial topics are examined by reviewing trends in the evolution of key markets, especially in Asia.

Bourgeois will review the years from 1986 to 2005, charting the milestones and the backgrounds of the packaging industry.

His seminar will be followed by a round table discussion moderated by Bourgeois entitled “What is the Future of the Cosmetics Packaging Industry?”, in which top packaging suppliers will discuss the latest developments, plus threats and challenges to the industry.
