Coty has launched Lancaster Protecting Body Milk SPF 50 Limited Edition in travel retail across Europe, featuring the beauty brand’s most sustainable packaging to date.
Through this launch Lancaster is supporting the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in its efforts to protect the Mediterranean Sea – which lies close to the Monégasque brand’s roots.
Protecting Body Milk SPF 50 Limited Edition comes in a tube that uses -54% less material than the Lancaster Sun Beauty Body Milk 175ml bottle.
The tube features a reduced sleeve, thin cap and is made of at least 49% recycled plastic. Its design fuses Lancaster’s signature orange with the deep blue of the ocean.
The body milk incorporates Lancaster’s Advanced Full Light Technology. Coty noted: “This technology targets 100% of the sun spectrum offering broad cellular protection.
“It works against UVB, UVA, visible light including blue light and infrared rays for optimum skin protection – all of which can lead to premature skin ageing.
“This body milk not only offers high photoprotection but also helps repair skin from sun-induced damage.”
Lancaster Scientific Communication Director Florence Nadal said: “As the number one Prestige suncare brand in Europe (source: Circana Group Beauty Trends 2023) with over 50 years of expertise in photoprotection, we have a responsibility to play our part to protect skin from sun damage while limiting our formulas’ impact on the ocean.”
Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Vice-President and CEO Olivier Wenden commented: “To keep the beauty and biodiversity of the ocean alive requires our global commitment to minimise our impacts.
“Every effort to reduce the threats hanging over our seas and the sources of pollution is to be encouraged. This is why the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is standing alongside Lancaster in their will to reduce plastic pollution through innovative packaging.”
The non-profit organisation works on climate change, renewable energy, biodiversity, water and combating desertification. It supports projects in specific geographical areas such as the Mediterranean Basin, polar regions and least-developed nations.
Lancaster Senior Vice President R&D Skin Research Dr Olivier Doucet remarked: “As a brand founded in Monaco in 1946, we’re honoured to partner with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
“This collaboration goes beyond sunscreen; it’s about supporting crucial environmental initiatives. Together, we aim to raise awareness and support the foundation’s work to preserve the environment in the Mediterranean Basin.
“This partnership is a significant first step for Lancaster in our journey to reduce our environmental impact.” ✈
