The first print ad campaign for Lancaster skincare featuring Kim Basinger will appear in October |
INTERNATIONAL. Coty Prestige has signed a deal with actress Kim Basinger to be the face of Lancaster’s new skincare collection from Fall 2007. It marks the first time the American actress has crossed over into the skincare market.
Lancaster, a leading anti-ageing brand, said it had chosen Basinger for her “radiant beauty and unique feminine sensuality as well as her personality”.
The agreement involves Kim Basinger being the worldwide public face of Lancaster new skincare range (except in the US). The first print ad campaign for the skincare featuring the actress will appear in October 2007.
Coty Prestige President Michele Scannavini commented: “Lancaster’s new skincare range is a unique and different approach to skincare. And Kim Basinger is the perfect and emblematic image for this breakthrough innovation.”
Added Lancaster Vice President Marketing Karen Pouey: “We want to express through Kim Basinger’s inspiring personality all the aspects of the Lancaster woman, confident, radiant and serene in the future. Nobody could be a better muse for Lancaster, a brand that accompanies women through age.”
Lancaster said Basinger epitomised the brand’s philosophy of “Add life to age and not age to life”.
“As a woman of spirit with a screen-goddess allure, she combines sensuality, brains and a formidable talent,” the firm said. “She will therefore incarnate the core values of the brand of excellence and closeness to women.”
“The honesty of Lancaster’s philosophy is what attracted me to this particular line of skincare,” said Basinger.
Basinger has a 12-year-old daughter, Ireland Eliesse. She is an activist, committed to the rights of animal and environmental causes.
Born in Georgia, Basinger first started as a top model with Eileen Ford. At 20, she moved to Los Angeles to dedicate herself to acting. Her film career spans 40 films, and her many roles include “9½ weeks”, “Batman” and “L.A. Confidential” for which she earned numerous awards, among them an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe Award. In the upcoming months, Basinger will make the headline news in the film industry with “While She Was Out”, to be released in 2008 and will next begin filming “Texas Lullaby” with Jeff Bridges.
