Coup for Zürich Airport as watch retailer Bucherer makes debut

Bucherer is one of Switzerland’s leading watch retailers and has now made its debut at Zürich Airport

SWITZERLAND. Leading Swiss watchmaker and retailer Bucherer has opened a new boutique on level 1 of Zürich Airport’s Airside Center. In addition to a full range of Bucherer’s own Carl F Bucherer timepieces and jewellery, the store features a large branded Rolex corner – a coup for Zürich Airport which had long sought to add the legendary Swiss brand to its already wide watch offer.

The store, to be operated by Bucherer directly, is divided into two shop-in-shops, featuring Rolex and the Bucherer brand. Bucherer operates a number of downtown stores across Switzerland, including in Zürich’s famous Bahnhofstrasse, and is one of the leading distributors of the Rolex brand.

Zürich Airport Head Marketing Retail & Services Patrick Graf told The Moodie Report the airport was delighted to finally “close a gap” through the addition of Rolex, and expressed confidence in the concept’s future success.

“With this new two-brand concept and the presence of Rolex we can finally close a gap in our range, with the addition of one of the strongest Swiss watch brands in the market,” he said.

“The new concept and its new brands helps us to strengthen our watch competence as well our position in the market.

“We thank Bucherer for its support to make this possible and wish them successful business at Zürich Airport,” added Graf.

The Bucherer store is the latest opening in a busy year for Zürich Airport, where the creation of the new Pier B along with the centralisation of security control will add a significant amount of new retail space.

The addition of Rolex, via the brand’s corner within the new Bucherer boutique, is a major coup for Zürich Airport
