CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has partnered with French beauty house Guerlain to bring the Bee School project to RDFZ Sanya School in Hainan. The programme educates school children about environmental protection with a focus on the critical role of bees in the ecosystem.
The project, which ran from 15 to 17 June, included 250 Grade 1 students. This is the first time the programme has been introduced to Mainland China.
Born in 2015, the Bee School project is jointly organised by UNESCO, OFA (L’Observatoire Français d’Apidologie), the ELYX Foundation (UN’s digital ambassador) and Guerlain.
The programme aims to raise awareness of the importance of bees and highlight Guerlain’s sustainable production process. This includes the use and reuse of recyclable materials for decoration and packaging, avoidance of excessive packaging and usage of local materials.
Gao Xujiang, Deputy General Manager of CDFG parent company China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation and Executive Director and Party Secretary of CDFG Sanya Downtown Duty Free Store Co, spoke with the RDFZ Sanya School President and a Guerlain representative at the opening ceremony.
CDFG said that the occasion created a harmonious atmosphere for the school children, offering them an educational experience in a lively and relaxed environment.
The spirit of the Bee School project is in line with CDFG and Guerlain’s commitment to sustainable development.
The bee has been a symbol and source of inspiration for Guerlain since the company’s inception, playing a star role in hero products and their packaging.
Under the leadership of parent company China Tourism Group, CDFG said that it pledges to continue fostering relationships with sustainability-minded global brands and deliver high-quality services for the betterment of the industry as a whole.
