Crocs reports thriving sales at Manchester Airport

EUROPE. Crocs, the designer, manufacturer and retailer of footwear for men, women and children under the Crocs brand, has reported booming sales at World Duty Free’s (WDF) Biza store at Manchester Airport Terminal 1.

The Crocs shop-in-shop with WDF is part of a pilot project agreed last year in Cannes.

The brand began trading in WDF’s Manchester T1 store after Christmas with a shop-in-shop concept featuring a six-metre back wall and three T-stands.

The shop features a large selection of Jibbitz and Kids, Unisex, Men & Women shoes with over 40 styles and colours, including the new Crocband.

“Early signs have been positive and we are keen to see what the brand can do during the key summer months. As part of the pilot, we are also installing Crocs into our new Bristol store when it opens at the beginning of April,” WDF Head of Category for Fashion Accessories, Souvenirs & Technology Alex Wilson commented.

Crocs Travel Retail Manager Nico Veenendaal told The Moodie Report: “We are very happy with the results so far and appreciate the confidence WDF has given to Crocs. With families watching their budgets when traveling, it shows that Crocs is an interesting addition in the fashion offering and appeal to the leisure traveller. With the introduction of our new SS10 range and variety of branded displays on offer, discussions are ongoing to expand at other airports in Europe soon.”

Crocs took part (informally) in the 2009 TFWA World Exhibition, where it raised €2,000 for The Smile Train cleft charity by offering visitors the chance to win two complete sets of Crocs shoes, apparel and accessories via a prize draw.

As well as raising enough funds to carry out 13 life-transforming cleft operations, the company decided to donate 1,000 pairs of Crocs shoes to The Smile Train for use in one or more of its hospitals.
