Cruising into the future: Coeur de Lion increases travel retail footprint

Coeur de Lion has its sights set on expansion in the cruise sector, with curated sets for its sailing consumers

German jewellery brand Coeur de Lion is targeting further expansion in the cruise channel. As reported, the brand already partners with Starboard, MSC, Harding Retail and Heinemann and celebrated a new collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Line in September.

Coeur de Lion has since partnered with Harding+ in branded activations onboard the P&O Iona, Ventura, Azura and Arcadia cruise ships.

In a LinkedIn post, Coeur de Lion said: “This exciting partnership lets us share our colourful world with P&O’s guests, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to their cruise experience. We couldn’t be prouder of the results. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Harding+ team for bringing this branded personalisation to life.”

Launched in 1987, Coeur de Lion attracted attention and customers in the jewellery market with its colourful GeoCube designs and stainless steel and crystal jewellery. The family-owned company is now managed by a group of investors with expertise in the jewellery sector, with other brands including Sif Jakobs and Qudo – both featured at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition – in its portfolio.

The Sif Jakobs brand is set to feature with Harding+ on selected Viking Line vessels within the coming weeks.

The Sif Jakobs brand was launched in 2009 with a focus on “accessible luxury” in the jewellery market

Coeur de Lion Travel Retail Key Account Manager Ana Vassallo said: “Our assortment seeks to reach out to a wide customer profile and we offer something for every customer; colourful and bold, monochromatic, or even some pearls. Cruising provides that special retail space where customers can really have the time to discover a wide range of items.”

She noted Coeur de Lion’s organic growth within the cruise sector especially in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Nordic regions.

“Our jewellery has a strong and special impact with cruise passengers, and the growth we have had so far has been positive. We are honoured at the trust that our cruising partners as well as the passengers continue to give to our brand as we strive to ensure that the assortment and any visual merchandising truly reflect the joy and love for colour that are Coeur de Lion’s signature.”

Vassallo underlined the importance of offering a curated selection of jewellery in the cruise market. “We will have Sif Jakobs on board selected Viking Ships with Harding+ in the coming weeks. We are excited and thankful for this opportunity and look forward to seeing the results of this new partnership.”
