Danzka vodka: licensed to chill – 27/05/04

DENMARK. Danzka vodka from Danish liquor company V&S Absolut Spirits is launching a duty free campaign based on the theme “˜Made To Chill’ throughout Europe. It is timed to coincide with the European Football Championships in Portugal in June and the start of the summer holiday season in Greece.

The campaign kicked off in Athens, Greece, and Lisbon, Portugal, in May and will be launched in Marseilles, France, and Milan, Italy, this month. It will then be launched in Domodedovo Airport, Russia, in July followed by Basel, Switzerland, in August.

Together with duty free distributor Chacalli de Decker, V&S Absolut Spirits will also run the campaign at the diplomatic store in Antwerp.

The “˜Chill’ campaign promotes the brand as the perfect drink for chilling out in relaxed settings. The vodka comes in an aluminium bottle which is designed to chill faster than glass in a fridge and keeps cold for longer when taken out. The company says this gives the brand a unique benefit, especially in countries which have a preference for serving vodka chilled.

The campaign offers a collectable “˜Made to Chill’ compilation CD and a colourful cooler bag (pictured) that comes free with every three-bottle purchase.

The “˜Made to Chill’ CD features six lounge and dance tracks – mainly arranged, written and composed by Carlos Campos and David Visan. It is released in association with George V Records, which produces music for top Parisian lounges such as the Buddha Bar, Barrio Latino and Bar Fly. The six tracks featured on the CD include Amor de Siempre, Tamtra Tibet and Be As One.

Apart from Danzka (40% abv), line extensions available under the brand are Danzka Grapefruit Vodka, Danzka Citrus Vodka and Danzka Currant Vodka.

V&S Absolut Spirits, a division of the V&S Group, produces and markets Absolut vodka, Absolut Cut, Level, Danzka vodka, Frïs vodka and Plymouth gin.
