Davidoff honours 12 Chinese zodiacs with The Year of Collector’s Edition

Davidoff has unveiled The Year of Collector’s Edition dedicated to the Chinese zodiacs from 2013 to 2024, with only 100 pieces available worldwide.

It has been launched – strategically coinciding with the Lunar New Year – at the Davidoff of Geneva flagship stores in Hong Kong, New York City and Geneva.

The collectable includes 96 premium handmade cigars of 12 different designs honouring limited-edition releases – these span from the Year of the Snake Limited Edition 2013 to the Year of the Dragon Limited Edition 2024.

The cigars are presented in a cabinet consisting of a dozen wooden trays and a red casing, with an inlay featuring each limited-edition pattern protecting the cigars.

The stacked trays – reminiscent of the pagoda, an architectural element prevalent in some parts of Asia – can be taken out individually to be placed in a humidor.

The Year of Collector’s Edition celebrates the completion of Davidoff’s first entire zodiac cycle. It allows cigar enthusiasts to acquire editions they might have missed during the past 12 years.

Each tray holds eight cigars of each Limited Edition and is adorned with the gold-engraved zodiac icon, release year and cigar format

Oettinger Davidoff Senior Vice President – Chief Marketing Officer Edward Simon said: “Each zodiac sign has its own distinctive and fascinating character traits, which we translated into our packaging design and our cigars’ formats and tasting notes.

“In the same way that larger zodiac signs such as the Horse, the Ox or the Dragon have led to the creation of generously sized cigars, the Rabbit perfecto cigar discloses its depth and complexity slowly – just like the Rabbit reveals its character gradually.

To underline the exclusivity of this release, Davidoff has added a numbered plate with the serial number engraved on the casing

“With these editions, we have been able to offer our aficionados a seamless journey that reflects the zodiac sign from opening the box to enjoying the special cigar.

“I am thrilled that we can now bring our combined expertise from the past 12 years to a select few in a collection that takes craftsmanship and packaging design to a new level.”

The square shape of the trays takes inspiration from the traditional Chinese tea ceremony
