SWITZERLAND. Oettinger Imex AG, the owner of the Davidoff cigar brand, has announced the passing of Dr Ernst Schneider on 13 October, aged 88.
In a letter, Chairman of the Board Andreas Schmid and Chief Executive Officer Reto Cina said: “With his strong will and vision, Ernst Schneider developed our company into a leading player in the luxury goods sector in the years since he took up the reins in 1961.
“His entrepreneurial courage and foresight were particularly apparent in the acquisition and expansion of the Davidoff brand as well as in the development of new production areas. His profound humanity and sympathy will remain with us all in fond memory.”
Schneider handed over the business to his two older daughters a number of years ago. “They, together with the Board of Directors and Management, will continue to run and develop the family business in line with his spirit and sympathy,” they said.
