USA. Food & beverage concessionaire Jersey Mike’s Subs is set to give a full day’s sales – expected to be over US$10 million – away to charity today (30 March).
During the submarine sandwich chain’s 12th annual Day of Giving, more than 2,000 Jersey Mike’s restaurants across the USA (including airport outlets) will donate 100% of sales to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games and Special Olympics state programmes.
Day of Giving marks the end of Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving campaign, which has run throughout March. It aims to help local athletes attend the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Florida, 5-12 June.
Jersey Mike’s Subs Founder Pater Cancro said: “Every four years, dedicated athletes come together to compete at the Special Olympics USA Games.”
He encouraged customers to “make a difference” by supporting his company’s efforts and noted that since Month of Giving began in 2011, Jersey Mike’s has raised over US$47 million for local charities.
