Beam Global Spirits & Wine and Delhi Duty Free have launched Laphroaig 18yo in India |
INDIA. Laphroaig brand owner Beam Global Spirits & Wine has announced the exclusive Indian launch of Laphroaig 18yo with Delhi Duty Free at Indira Gandhi Airport’s International Terminal (T3).
Delhi Duty Free CEO Nicholas Goddard Palmer said: “Delhi Duty Free has always endeavoured to provide the best of collection of Scotch whiskies, as well as having a dedicated speciality area for single malts (‘Uisge Beatha’), with over 144 single malt whiskies available from 44 distilleries of Scotland. We also have the privilege of being selected as the launch pad for the rare and prestigious Laphroaig 18yo.”
Beam Global Spirits & Wine CEO & Managing Director, India and Indian Sub Continent, Harish Moolchandani said: “Laphroaig is one of our finest brands in the single malt whisky segment and we are very happy to bring the Laphroaig 18yo to India through the duty free channel. This is just the first step towards introducing it in the country.”
The 18yo expression has a soft, sweet and spicy Islay peat smoke aroma. The immediate taste is an oak sweetness from 18 years in the barrel, and a faint hint of the sea can be detected, testimony to its time maturing on the remote island of Islay, says Beam Global.
The 48%abv, non-chill filtered whisky has a long, sweet and intense finish with a multitude of flavours on the nose: smoked ham, spice, fruitcake, wood, ginger and butter.
Laphroaig 18yo retails at US$74 for a 70cl bottle at Delhi Duty Free.
