The opening of the electronics units adds a new product category to the retailer’s portfolio at Delhi International Airport |
INDIA. Delhi Duty Free has opened its first electronics retail units in Arrivals at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The 900sq ft offer marks the launch of the company’s seventh product category at Delhi Airport – the others are liquor, tobacco, beauty, confectionery, fashion and destination items.
Products on offer include LED televisions, TV accessories, cameras and computer, audio and mobile phone accessories. Mobile phones and tablets will also be added to the product portfolio later this year.
The retailer said: “The initiative is to ensure that Indian travellers buy their favourite electronic products on their way back from their international trips, and do not have to worry about carrying them back from another country. The duty free prices of the electronic products will be up to -15% cheaper compared to the domestic market.”
Customers can avail of an additional -5% off and also win gifts with the purchase of selected items. During a promotional period to 31 August they stand the chance to win a television.
A Delhi Duty Free spokesperson said: “We are happy and proud to launch the Electronic & LED TV shops under the aegis of duty free shopping. We are sure that this new addition will enhance the shopping experience for our travellers and provide them with a hassle-free shopping experience, one which now allows them to buy their favourite electronic brands right here in India at duty free prices.”
Some of the leading brands in each product category include Samsung, Sony and Philips in televisions; Hama in TV accessories; Canon, Nikon and Panasonic in cameras; Braun, Remington and Russell Hobbs in personal accessories; SanDisk and Verbatim in computer accessories; JBL and Gear 4 in audio accessories and Ferrari in mobile accessories.
