ITALY. American carrier Delta Air Lines has included an Alexander grappa blown-glass bottle in its inflight sales catalogue.

The Alexander collection, produced by Italian spirits company Distilleria Bottega, achieved the listing via Diplomatic Supplies (Canada) Ltd and its Vice-President Marketing Tony Detter.

Commented Distilleria Bottega’s Giovanni Savio: “Distilleria Bottega is proud to be included among the suppliers of this giant airline and is confident of the sales results achieved by its products in the onboard duty free business.”

Delta selected the Alexander Air, a blown-glass bottle which contains an aeroplane model inside as well as 200ml of Prosecco grappa spirit. The bottle retails at US$49 onboard the airline.

The blown glass, in the Venetian tradition, is designed to emphasise the transparency of grappa and its pureness. The Alexander collection counts more than 30 different bottle designs. Some have been exhibited in prestigious collections of contemporary art in Italy and abroad.

The Alexander Air is also sold onboard United, Swiss, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic. Other Alexander collection pieces have been sold on carriers including Alitalia, Cathay Pacific, South African Airways, Austrian Airlines, Thai Airways, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines and Air Macau.

Distilleria Bottega is represented in the US duty free market by Haleybrooke International.
