MALAYSIA. Leading Spanish fashion brand Desigual has made its debut in Malaysia, with two stores at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The brand’s stores at KLIA – one offering women’s clothes and another for accessories including bags, belts, hats, and scarves – were officially opened by the Minister of Tourism Datuk Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen. Also present were the Spanish Ambassador in Malaysia Maria Bassols; Jordi Balsells, Desigual Vice President Asia; Tuan Haji Md Idris Ab Aziz, Managing Director of Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd, Desigual’s local partner in Malaysia and Puan Salmah Hassan, CEO of Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd.
Balsells said: “Our two stores will allow us to have huge visibility to our passengers throughout all of Southeast Asia and the Middle East. We are a new offer in the Asian market and our presence at KLIA goes in line with our expansion and airport strategy of continuously surprising and evoking passengers’ emotions. We are also proud to partner with Wafada in this new journey.”

Managing Director of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad added: “We are delighted that Desigual has picked KLIA over downtown malls to make its Malaysian debut. It underscores KLIA’s position as a premier lifestyle destination for global travellers, over and above our standing as a top-class international airport.”
The Desigual accessories and fashion stores are located in the North and South Zones of the Satellite Building in KLIA, respectively. Through what is described as “clever use” of lights, Desigual at KLIA has created “a fun shopping experience” and “an alternative world” for the brand.
Created by Thomas Meyer in 1984, Desigual is available in over 80 countries, through its slogan “˜It is not the same’.
