SPAIN. Spanish fashion brand Desigual will make its first appearance at the TFWA World Exhibition this month with a range of new collections (Stand number: Mediterranean Village N5).
On show will be the brand’s New & Good collection for Spring/Summer 2012, the Desigual designed by Monsieur Lacroix collection as well as the first designs from Desigual inspired by Cirque du Soleil.
In 2010, Desigual sold more than 11 million garments through its different points of sales and is currently present in more than 75 countries worldwide. Managing Director Manel Adell* told The Moodie Report recently: “We have six sales channels: brand stores, multi-brand stores, corners and franchises, online store and travel retail. In recent years, the company has registered sustained growth greater than +50% per year.”
“In 2011, Desigual is opening a new store each week, with an investment close to €100 million per annum, +50% more than last year. This year it plans to end 2011 with more than 240 brand stores, 40 new stores up on the 200 of last year, and reach 8,000 points of sale in more than 80 countries.”

The company plans to increase its presence with new openings, both in national and international markets. Last June, Desigual opened a new point of sales in Terminal 1 of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, one of the key points of the exhibition through which most of the event’s visitors will pass. Desigual has designed a limited edition T-shirt, “˜Nice, it’s not the same’, which will be given away to Nice Airport customers who spend over €89.
Currently Desigual has more than 25 points of sale in major international airports, including Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles and Houston. The fashion brand is preparing to roll out in major commercial airports in Asia and South America and plans to finish the year with 35 points of sale in 30 of the busiest airports around the world.
