SPAIN. Destilerias Campeny, one of the main Spanish producers of liquors, cream liqueurs and spirits, has spelled out its global ambition to break into the international travel retail market.
Swiss travel retailer Dufry is already a key duty free client and the company exports its wide range of products to more than 30 countries throughout Europe, Asia and America.
The company’s strategy so far has been to get its brands well represented in the domestic market, in the on-trade, off-trade and tourist hot-spots.
Its major foreign clients include Swedish Monopoly (Systembolaget), Iceland Monopoly, Canadian Monopoly LCBO, as well as customers in Benelux, Denmark, Mexico, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Russia, Portugal, UAE, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and France. The main international retail chains include Wal-Mart, Metro Makro Europe, Carrefour and El Corte Ingles.
In the duty free market, Destilerias Campeny has a presence in all the Spanish airports and other travel retail locations, and through major international chains such as Dufry, Areas and Autogrill.

Innovative: Tolón-Tolón |
– MELODY: Second best-selling cream liqueur in Spain (according to AC Nielsen) with 17%abv. Introduced in 1994, this award-winning Catalan cream liqueur can be enjoyed cold, with ice or with coffee. Ingredients are cinnamon, lemon, egg and sugar.
– TOLÓN-TOLÓN: Awarded with a SIAL d’OR 2006 as the most innovative product. It contains the ingredients of the popular drink “leche merengada”: milk, cinnamon, lemon, sugar and the addition of alcohol. It is a creamy liqueur of relatively low alcoholic strength. Tolón-Tolón is served very cold, with ice or mixed with coffee. The company recently presented new flavours.
– OROVANA: The first rum cream launched in the market (Alimentaria 2006), made with selected Caribbean rums from Trinidad and Jamaica. The 17%abv drink is served with ice or mixed with coffee.
– MOJITO MAMASITA: Rum-flavoured drink ready to enjoy.
Every year Destilerias Campeny presents its new products at the main international trade exhibitions such as Vinexpo, and now the company is considering exhibiting at travel retail trade events.
