DFA rolls out online pre-order service Duty Free Express

USA. Duty Free Americas (DFA) has launched a new online pre-order service named Duty Free Express. It is part of the retailer’s efforts to provide its customers with a more technology-friendly experience.

The web-based application is available on desktop computers and mobile devices and enables travellers to shop for duty free products up to seven days before their arrival at the airport for an international journey.

The website has been active at Miami International Airport for the past year but underwent a redesign before being launched nationally this month.

DFA Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Simon Falic said: “Duty Free Express will have a significant impact on DFA’s growth as more time-conscious travellers discover the convenience of pre-ordering their duty free products online. DFA already saves travellers money on their favourite products. Now we’ll be saving our customers valuable time, as well.

He added: “DFA is proud to lead the travel retail industry in innovation. We are committed to working with airports to introduce new technology to make duty free shopping as convenient as possible.”

To shop, individuals travelling internationally need to enter their flight details at www.dutyfreeexpress.com.

DFA Director of Partnerships and Digital Commerce Greg Hoffman said: “The process is very simple. Right on your computer or smartphone, you can now browse, shop and pay for hundreds of premium quality duty free items, including cosmetics, fragrances, and liquor products, with more to come. The purchased items will then be hand-delivered directly to your flight’s gate on your day of travel. This “˜web to gate’ concept is truly a game-changer.”
