CANADA. Miami-based DFASS Group has formally been selected by Air Canada as the carrier’s new inflight duty free concessionaire, The Moodie Report can reveal.
The business was formerly handled by Inflight Sales Group.
The new long-term agreement, effective 1 June 2004, is designed to provide Air Canada with greater efficiencies in duty free handling as well as improved revenue generation.
“After an extensive evaluation process involving a number of leading inflight concessionaires, we identified DFASS as the most suitable partner to take our program to the next level,” said Air Canada senior director of marketing George Reeleder.
“DFASS have shown they clearly understand our business and our customers and we are very excited about the new opportunities ahead.”
Benny Klepach, chairman and CEO of the DFASS Group, said: “We are excited to be working with such a high profile and professional airline as Air Canada. We are going to deliver a superior service that matches the quality of service that Air Canada passengers have come to expect on board.”
Montréal-based Air Canada provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to more than 150 destinations on five continents. Canada’s flag carrier is the 11th largest commercial airline in the world and serves more than 30 million customers annually.
The DFASS group runs the inflight duty free concessions for the majority of North America’s international airlines and many Latin American carriers.
