CHINA. DFS Group, this week unveiled phase 1 of its newest airport store in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport’s domestic Terminal 3A.
As reported, in July 2022 DFS won what it described as a tightly-contested bid to operate the Fashion, Watches and Jewellery concession in July 2022.
Phase one sees the opening of DFS’ multi-brand Sunglasses store which offers a diverse line-up of 21 luxury brands including LVMH-owned Thelios plus Luxottica, Safilo, Marchon and Kering Eyewear.
In celebration of the festive season, the assortment features a selection of Lunar New Year exclusives from Gucci, Burberry and Prada, with many more exclusives planned for 2023.
Phase two will showcase an additional 15 branded boutiques spanning 1,500sq m across the fashion, watches, jewellery and accessories categories, including first-time duty paid airport debuts from Valentino and Moncler.
These are in addition to brands already secured separately by the airport including Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Gucci and Burberry, promising a truly luxurious retail experience at Terminal 3A, DFS commented.
Once fully open, DFS will operate a total of 1,800sq m of Terminal 3A having last October also been awarded the rights to operate Zone D.
“We are pleased to unveil our newest airport store at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and partner with the airport to transform this aviation hub into a luxury travel retail mecca following the recent announcement of the border reopening and further relaxation of travel restrictions,” said DFS Group Chairman and CEO Benjamin Vuchot.
Chongqing is Mainland China’s largest city, with a population of more than 30 million. In 2021, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport was ranked fourth in China by domestic passenger volume, with over 35.8 million people passing through Terminal 3A.✈
