Dial 080 for luxury: Kempegowda International Airport reveals new lounge experience

INDIA. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) and Travel Food Services have unveiled a new luxury lounge experience at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. The 080 lounges – named after the Bengaluru dialling code – appear in both international and domestic zones.

The 080 lounges managed by TFS meet BIAL’s ambition “to deliver the highest standards of service delivery, world-class quality, technology and innovation”

The name and design reflect the airport’s “connection and dedication to the city,” said BIAL. Lush greenery has been artistically incorporated throughout the lounges, underlining Bengaluru’s reputation as the ‘garden city’.

BIAL said that the launch of 080 lounges “is a significant step to deliver the highest standards of service delivery, world-class quality, technology and innovation”.

BIAL Managing Director and CEO Hari Marar said: “We are constantly looking at ways to enhance the journeys of passengers and surpass their expectations. Our customers are going to be delighted by the world-class amenities and services at the 080 lounges. We are proud to be bringing this exciting brand with unique design sensibilities, creating a truly innovative and unique space tailored to the needs of passengers.”

Operated by Travel Food Services (TFS), the lounges are open for passengers who are affiliated with loyalty programmes, partner airlines, and for other patrons wishing to access the services.

The International Lounge features gardens and spaces curated for a range of traveller needs. Features include an ‘Entertainment pod’ with an enclosed space for watching movies, a ‘Wellness Zone’ with therapy rooms, and a ‘Quiet Lounge’ for those who seek privacy. The Domestic Lounge also offers a range of personalised experiences.

The 080 Transit Hotel, a niche boutique hotel, was created to provide a comfortable and convenient accommodation option for transit passengers. It offers a flexible hourly rate, which can be used by travellers between long layovers.

The walkway in the International Lounge houses an abstract of a horse to reflect Bengaluru’s tradition of horse racing, and sits below inverted gardens, a key design feature of the space

The lounges offer a “top-notch culinary experience”, said BIAL, managed by professionals led by celebrity chef Abhijit Saha.

Both the Domestic and International departure lounges will adhere to BIAL’s sustainability principles. Food preparations in the lounges uses fresh, local, artisanal ingredients and chemical-free greens and vegetables grown in villages near the airport.
