French fragrance house Diptyque has released its third annual limited-edition Summer Collection for 2023. The collection invites users to slow down into the pace of summer and brings scents from Italy, Provence and Greece to life. It is now available in global travel retail.
The collection is inspired by the Mediterranean landscapes which two of Diptyque’s founders, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Lee, often frequented in the 1960s.
Diptyque has partnered with American artist Erik Winkowski to visualise the collection in the colourful packaging and campaign.
Winkowski’s style blends animation and collage. For Diptyque, he created sunny landscapes with painted scenes from the Mediterranean.
The collection is centred around the Ilio scent, which is available as an eau de toilette and hair must. The scent takes its name from Ilios (the Greek word for sun) and is described as a ‘summer captured in a bottle’. It offers floral and fruit tree top notes, prickly pear heart notes, blended with bergamot, iris and jasmine.
The collection also features two limited-edition Citronelle candles, which are centred around lemongrass. Citronelle is a summer scent, while lemongrass is known to have mosquito-repellent properties. Citronelle is available in the standard size and extra-large format. The latter is decorated with illustrations by Winkowski. Citronelle is also available in a home diffuser and body spray format.
The body spray is made with an essential oil-based formula of lemongrass, geranium and lemon eucalyptus, all ingredients which have natural abilities to repel mosquitos.
Diptyque has also released a summer-themed fan alongside the collection. It was created in partnership with French fan-makers Duvelleroy, whose fan-making heritage dates back to 1827. The fan features vibrant summer motifs with a sunny cord that can be worn strapped on the wrist. ✈
