Discovering duty free products in China: CGTN introduces viewers to Hainan Expo

CHINA. Powerful Beijing-based state-owned foreign language news channel CGTN has underlined the importance of the recent China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) in Haikou with a high-profile programme.

In a 24-minute video (featured below) CGTN’s Kate Kui and Feng Yushun join forces to walk through Hall 6 at the Expo, talking with brands and retailers about their approach to duty free and ecommerce in China.

Their report focuses on provincial specialities and touches on innovative, cutting-edge products, along with everyday essentials.

The strong Chinese tea culture, which combines modern technology with traditional techniques, Chinese porcelain and the use of 3-D printing in the textiles industry captured Kui and Yushun’s attention. Imported wines and meat from Spain also caught their eyes.

CTGN also noted the success of the Hainan Expo. According to an article on 15 April, over 320,000 visitors and a total of 3,382 brands from 65 countries and regions participated in the successful event. Some 2,226 brands took to the stage at the international exhibition area, while 1,156 brands made their appearances in the domestic exhibition zone.

The number of participating brands increased by +19% percent compared with the second edition of the event, staged last year, CTGN stated.  ✈
