Distell Travel Retail set to unveil new-look Amarula Cream in Singapore

Distell Travel Retail will be previewing its new-look “next generation” Amarula Cream pack to visitors at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition (stand B2/J6).

According to Distell Global Travel Retail Head of Marketing Andrea Baumgartner, the revitalised packaging brings “very vividly to life” the brand’s African provenance and its close association with African elephants, known to love marula fruit.

Said to be the world’s number two cream liqueur brand, Amarula is made with wild-harvested marulas that are indigenous to the sub-Saharan region of the continent. According to IWSR, it is the 32nd most popular spirit in duty free.

Distell will also be presenting a selection of its newly positioned Nederburg wines at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition, including the handmade Heritage Heroes wines which have been individually named and labelled to honour some of the personalities who have shaped Nederburg’s reputation. Rhône-style blend Motorcycle Marvel honours the legendary cellar master Günter Brözel, who was the first winemaker in South Africa to earn the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s title of Robert Mondavi International Winemaker of the Year.

A selection of rare single malts will also be highlighted in Singapore, including Deanston Organic 15 Year Old Single Highland Malt and two Tobermory single malts, an 18yo that is bourbon cask matured and a 20yo which is finished in sherry casks.

Baumgartner says the price fetched at auction for the empty decanter of Bisquit “speaks of the fine reputation of the brand”

Travel retail exclusive Bunnahabhain malt whiskies Cruach-Mhòna and Eirigh na Greine will also be presented.

Lastly, Distell will showcase its specialty Cognac range. An empty decanter of the spirit recently sold for €20,000 at auction in February on behalf of the Cape Wine Auction Trust in South Africa. The winning bidder will take part in a Chateau Bisquit Experience, which includes a visit to Paris and Cognac, a tour of Le Château Bisquit with Bisquit President Vincent Chappe and Bisquit Cellar Master Denis Lahouratate, followed by a dinner prepared by acclaimed chef Thierry Verrat of La Ribaudière Restaurant.

The winner will also have the chance to fill the special decanter with Bisquit’s richest and rarest cognac, L’Origine, specially reserved for this occasion.
